What is Gacha Life?
Gacha Life is a role-playing video game that allows users to create and customize anime-style characters on mobile devices. The word ‘gacha’ refers to small toys in Japan that can be purchased from vending machines and packaged into small capsules.
The demo version can be played on PC while the full version is played on mobile devices. It allows children and teens to role-play characters, creating their own imaginative stories and is most popular among older children and teens.
How does it work?
Users can choose different outfits and accessories for their characters to wear and can customize parts of their appearance such as hair and eyes. They can choose from eight mini-games to play, or they can create scenes in Studio Mode and become ‘friends’ with non-player characters (NPCs). Some users may upload their Gacha Life story to other platforms to share with others.

Is it safe for children?
The Gacha Life app has been rated 9+ on the Apple App Store and Everyone on the Google Play Store. Parents should be aware of the chat feature, access to in-app purchases, and in-game advertising. Make sure you disable in-app purchases to limit spending.

This content may include sexual violence and other sexual themes, or may depict age-inappropriate relationships in an attempt to normalize abusive behavior.
It is problematic because it uses characters and images from the Gacha Life mobile video game. Children or young people may see these videos on social media apps and think they are appropriate when in fact they are not.
